Dunnet Community Forest Caithness
Come and join one of our weekly session of practical work in the forest. We develop and maintain habitats for plants, animals, birdlife and all forest users. The work we do varies from week to week and season to season. Currently we are concentrating on removal of invasive species mainly cotoneaster, and looking after the health of our saplings that have been planted over the past 10 years by removing tree guards, checking tree health and re-staking. You will be working as part of a team of volunteers, there is plenty of opportunities to enjoy good company, learn new skills and help to maintain and improve the wonderful environment that is Dunnet Community Forest. Volunteer Day – Sunart Footpaths
As part of Green Health Week, join Ranger Eilidh-Ann and Sunart Community Company on this regular volunteer session. This month we will be making improvements to the Ardnastaing Common Grazings path so please bring gloves, spades, wheelbarrows and buckets. No need to book – this is a drop-in activity.
Time: 1.30pm – 4pm.

Join us for a Green Health Week special event to celebrate LGBTIQ+ people in nature. We will be guided by Cairngorms Connect for a walk to the Green Lochan and beyond to Ryvoan Bothy, followed by a social drink of choice at the Glenmore Visitor Centre which will be provided by Cairngorms Connect.

Clachtoll Broch and Coastal walk
Gentle Ranger ramble – a serene stroll through the incredibly beautiful land and seascape of Clachtoll. We are focussing on slow observations as we head to the iron-age broch. Hear about the new discoveries of the recent excavation, stories of how the iron age people lived and catastrophic collapse that ended it all. Watch out for early migrant birds and great northern divers and see signs of otters and maybe cetaceans. Bring packed lunch. This is a 4km walk. Meet at Clachtoll Beach car park. Grid ref: NC 040273.

The Castletown Health walk meets every Wednesday at 10.30am outside the Drill Hall. We walk for approximately one hour and have tea/coffee in The Castletown Hotel after the walk. Every few weeks we walk somewhere different as the walks in Castletown are more limited.

Spring at Ullapool Riverside: Highlife Highland Ranger Led Walk
An accessible walk as part of Green Health Week, Ullapool On this walk around the riverside paths in Ullapool, we will be looking and listening for nature. There are wildflowers aplenty bordering the paths, trees will be freshly in leaf and the wild animals that enjoy the woodland and river habitats will be busy with spring.

Nairn Cardiactive Group Health Walk
We meet at the Jubilee Bridge Car Park, Nairn and leave for our walk at 2pm sharp. Our Walks last approximately 1 hour. A registration form by Paths For All requires to be completed by participants prior to their first walk.
A link can be emailed. It is a short health form which will just take a few minutes to complete online. If a participant doesn’t have online access we can print a form and this can be registered online by blazej.b_pytko@yahoo.co.uk

High Life Highland Countryside Rangers Coastal walk – Lybster to Achastle, Friday 9th May, 10am to 12.30pm.
A cliff top walk south to the old herring station at Achastle on the look out for whales, nesting seabirds and plantlife. Meet at the Waterlines Visitor Centre. Ground uneven in places. Please wear sturdy boots and dress for the weather. Over 18s only and please, no dogs.

Story by the Fire
Join the Ranger and Ewens Room Education Officer at Strontian Community Woodland for a story by the fire followed by some activities relating to the book. BOOKING IS ESSENTIAL and all children must be accompanied by an adult. These sessions are aimed at children aged 2yrs to 7yrs but younger and older children are welcome. Please wear warm, waterproof clothing. You can bring a snack for around the fire if you feel peckish. There might even be a few marshmallows for toasting! **Fire safety is important – we operate a Leave No Trace policy and fires will not be lit at times of high wildfire risk**

Litter Pick at Churchill Woods in Lairg – 11.30am-2pm. Help us keep Lairg nice and tidy! All litter picking equipment and bin bags will be provided, along with a lovely assortment of sandwiches and cakes from The Pier. Please register your interest through Eventbrite so we have an idea of numbers:

Dunnet Community Forest Caithness
Come and join one of our weekly session of practical work in the forest. We develop and maintain habitats for plants, animals, birdlife and all forest users. The work we do varies from week to week and season to season. Currently we are concentrating on removal of invasive species mainly cotoneaster, and looking after the health of our saplings that have been planted over the past 10 years by removing tree guards, checking tree health and re-staking. You will be working as part of a team of volunteers, there is plenty of opportunities to enjoy good company, learn new skills and help to maintain and improve the wonderful environment that is Dunnet Community Forest.
We meet at the woodshed, which is opposite the Dunnet Bay Sea Drift Centre/Caravan Park. What3Words ///compliant.outlast.raking

Ullapool Nature Tots for pre-school children – Buzzy Bees and Beautiful Butterflies, Ullapool Library
Nature Tots is aimed at children under 5 and their carers. It includes nature stories and activities. This time our theme is about bees and butterflies.
Time: 10.30am – 11.30am
We make no charge for this event but we rely on your donations to help us protect our Highland wildlife and heritage.
